Cool Ass Comics: Savage Sword of Conan the Barbarian #1
It's been a long time since the last Cool Ass Comics entry; late August of 2011 to be exact. This one contains the cover and a couple of advertisements from the first issue of Savage Sword of Conan the Barbarian. This monumental first issue premiered in August of 1974 and features a cover by the great fantasy artist, Boris Vallejo.
The main story, 'Curse of the Undead Man', adapted from Robert E. Howard's 'Mistress of Death', was written by Roy Thomas and art by John Buscema and Pablo Marcos.
Other stories among the several featured include 'Red Sonja' and another of Conan in 'The Frost Giant's Daughter'.
Also contained within this issue are some choice ads for other Marvel Comic magazine titles include the two pictured for Planet of the Apes and Dracula Lives! Right click on those images and open in tab or window to read the text to get a closer look at what's featured in those issues. Also, check the CAC FB page for a couple additional ads seen in this same issue.

Is this the story where conan picks up the head of a decapitated zombie, hurls it at a villain and said head munches on the villains shoulder?
No, that's not in this one, but I'm intrigued now, lol!
I may or may not have that one, Fran. I have a good many of the magazines and the comics, too, but haven't read them all and it's been a while since I've sat down and read any of them period.
